any way to tell if she is gravid or just fat?

my desert hairy has totally balooned up in the last few weeks. Im almost positive that it is a girl, but i didnt think she was even mature yet, AND i have not put her with any males. How long can they hold sperm? How long are they gravid before they show? can i tell if she is gravid or just fat? i have stopped feedings for a little over a week now but she almost seems to have gotten bigger! here are some before and after pics

Whoa that is some growth. What and how often do u feed her? I suppose it's possible she could be gravid if she was with some males before you got her, where'd u get her? If not, probably just fat. Be careful with overfeeding scorps, their skin will actually split and kill them.

I was feeding her once a week and giving her 2 large crickets. i think one week i gave her 4, but they were spread out through the week. and i got her at petsINC in downtown pheonix when i was there visiting and i didnt ask them were they got her...

me too. maybe it's the same idea that some have with overfeeding T's. i've never seen it happen, and 1 or 2 of mine are fats as little sausages.

just throwing this out there, but chances are if you got it in pheonix, it's wild-caught.

I've heard w/ Ts, though, that the danger in overfeeding them is they can easily tear or puncture their soft, overly fat abdomen in the molting process. I've never heard someone say anything about Ts just, uh, splitting, haha... I shouldn't laugh.

Yeah, it's prolly wild caught. I would say to keep feeding the scorp as it's prolly gravid and would need the nutrition for her babies.

I think the C vittatus I got in MO took about a month to pop. I didn't have her at the time she gave birth but it was a while before she did.

i've only seen it happen once, maybe twice. but supposedly it happens when the spider gets old, and the abdomen gets so large, that it simply falls off, you know, right at where it connects on. pretty weird...

I had heard that could happen from a friend. I know it cannot happen in Ts. Prolly should've researched that a little more, sorry..
