    Parson Spider in Unusual Place

We have a Drinkwell water fountain for our cats. As you can see from the link it's the type that has a water reservoir in the back that feeds to the actual water dish. So this weekend I go to wash it and low and behold there is a Parson Spider IN the water reservoir (a BIG one at that!). There was only a tiny layer of water in the bottom of the reservoir so the spider was still alive and just kind-of clinging to the side of the reservoir. Here's the weird thing, though... in order to get INTO the reservoir it had to have swam into it! I think that's crazy. The only way into that container is through the bottom and the bottom is always submerged in water.

    Here are a couple pics:

(That IS a Parson Spider, right?)

It certainly freaked me out. I mean, I don't like true spiders and I totally wasn't expecting one to be living in my cat's water dish.

Yeah, it's pretty crazy. I have no idea how it got into the reservoir.... other than magic. To even get from the water dish to the reservoir there's a grate it would have to force its way through. I know spiders can fit in tight spaces but I can't believe this one could smoosh itself small enough to squeeze through.
