    MHBC Quick Contest #1

For July's contest (since it's so late in the month) we're going to do something short and sweet.

    MHBC Quick Contest #1 Rules:

    • Contest is only open to registered forum users.
    • You must have at least five (5) posts on these forums prior to entering into the contest.
    • If you are providing a prize for the contest you are not eligible to enter into the contest.
    • To be eligible for this prize you must be a CO local. The prize can not be shipped.
    • Answers need to be emailed or PM'd to Bell. Answers posted anywhere else (including in this thread) will be ineligible.
    • The first email/PM with the correct answers will be the winning email/PM. If no one guesses them all correctly the first person who guesses the most correctly will be the winner.
    • The contest requires un-jumbling the scientific name of an insect. Only correctly spelled scientific names will be acceptable answers.
    • Contest winners will be ineligible to enter another contest for 30 days. Erwynn can not enter this contest.

The contest runs from now until midnight on July 31st. The winner will be announced no later than the night of Aug 1st.

This contest's prize is a handmade snake hook from our very own Widowman10 (Brian).

Well, all of these insect species are endemic specifically to the Great Sand Dunes. That should narrow it down to, like, eight species, haha. ...and Google will be very helpful.

    The answers are:
    1. Cicindela theatin
    2. Eleodes hirtipennis
    3. Amblyderus werner
    4. Amblyderus triplehorn
    5. Daihinibaenetes giganteu

The species I had listed to be unscrambled come from this very neat .pdf report provided on the NPS.gov website: Endemic Insects of the Great Sand Dunes It's cool to know you can go to the Sand Dunes, find these insects, and know that these insects can ONLY be found in that area.
