    What kind is it?

So can you tell me what kind is it? I thought it was a Male Black Widow but now I'm not so sure I think it could be a Western Orb Weaver based on pictures Cindy found on the web. Little bit of help here please and thank you.

i'm fairly confident that what you have there is a Steatoda triangulosa.

but WOW, that pattern is WILD! very good looking even for the already stunning triangulosa!

my question is- where did you find this spider?

See Greg, option #3. Not an orb weaver. Not a widow. Must be a false widow.

    oh, also:

i find it strange that you found a Steatoda triangulosa (if that is what it is ) here. they are not too common from what i gather. much more plentiful in the southern (humid!) states.

Yeah, I would not be surprised at all. My basement has water damage due to a crack in the foundation so the SE corner of my house which includes my laudry room is very humid and damp. I'm surprised I don't have fireflies in there LOL.

That is the first one of those I have had a chance to see in my place. Normaly just a bunch of garden spiders and grass spiders. Maybe it's time to start looking a little closer because this one was a treat. Very pretty looking spider.
