    COS G2G 10/18

Wow, BIG get together today! In alphabetical order we had: Brian, Christina (sp?), Eric, Erin, Johnny (sp?), Ken, Kim, Mandi, Mark, Mike, Rick, Robert, Ron, and then myself. I think we well exceeded the maximum capacity of my apartment, haha.... Thanks to everyone who came! It's always great to meet new people and see new animals.

Here are some pics... video will be forthcoming but don't hold your breath, hehe:

Group shots... we were a big enough group that we kinda had different conversations going about different things:

Starting the show and tell... there were SO MANY animals I don't think I saw them all:

Mike modeling the newest release of Argiope:

    Brian's Tegenaria:

Rick passing around his red-tail boa.. GORGEOUS snake:

    Kim modeling Rick's red-tail boa:

    Ron's HUGE A geniculata:

    Ron's G pulchripes:

    Ron's male C cyaneopubescens:

    Ron's P metallica:

    Ron's male B emelia:

    Ron's B boehmei:

    Erin and Robert's L parahybana:

    Mike's S subspinipes:

    Mike's "two-handed rosie"... she's HUGE:

    Mandi's C elegans:

    More pics here.

Hopefully Ken and/or Mike can post some of the pics they took, too.

Woot! That was quick!! Great pics! I can't get over how cool your USB microscope is.

Some possible corrections/answers to your captions (in reverse order to as they're posted?):

We don't know what Mandi's mystery wolf spider is so if anyone can help identify that'd be awesome.

The hiding wolfie is actually Mike's. It's a local male H carolinensis he caught.

The "other" orb weaver spider (Araneus like Brian says) is a cat-faced male that Erin brought.

I think the L hesperus male might be Johnny's...?

The other nameless black widow eating the millipede I want to say was Johnny's also... Not sure on species, maybe L hesperus..?

The Deathstalker is Mike's. I know for sure I have a little video of that bugger.

Cool meeting Bell! I forget her name but tell the girl with the Orb weaver thanks for bringing that spider! Also, I really enjoyed checking out your red back Brian.

good! i hope to well document that mating. one i'm really looking forward to. the males do something really interesting called "constriction." there's a short, really neat paper out there describing it.
