    Re: Mesa dune scorp substrate

I hear keeping humans in an 8'x8' concrete and brick room with tiolet/sink combo works too.

    Re: Mesa dune scorp substrate

    Bell,

What works and what is right are two different worlds. You can take what I say as insulting or not, that's not the issue. Sure, it may seem like I'm force-feeding the issue but that comes...

    Re: Mesa dune scorp substrate

Oh yeah, and I forgot... if it's REALLY small and yellow it's a bark scorpion, right? Hahaha. Those are the three yellow-type scorps per our LPS, yeah? ;) They once had a P chordatus labeled as...

    Re: Mesa dune scorp substrate

    Bell,

I've been at it for a number of years, I've worked with numerous species from several families and genre and I'm going to say it how it is in regards to species such as H. arizonensis (my...

    Re: Mesa dune scorp substrate

    Bell,

That care sheet is about as basic as, "hey, stick your scorpion (any scorpion species) in this here deli cup, it will be fine in there." As a former mod on that forum, I will say that there...

    Re: Mesa dune scorp substrate

If you're gonna go with the sand/eco route I'd do 80/20, sand/eco. A tip on the dust...spray all the sand down first - essentially, when you put sand in the enclosure it's best to have it all wet...

    Re: Mesa dune scorp substrate

    Erwynn,

First things first, throw away caci-sand and never waste your money on it again. Calcium actually breaks down chitin, which is what make up the exoskeleton of invertebrates amongst other...

    Re: Mesa dune scorp substrate

    Erwynn,

Are you talking about S. mesaensis?

If it's a temporary substrate, they should be fine on the Eco Earth. S. mesaensis is thinophilous which is where they get their common name as...

Re: A wikitized project (for arachnids)

I'll go through old notes for ya Bell.

Please don't include scorpions in your little project - all the care sheets out there are total crap and all the idiots that post on wikis are idiots - we...

Re: A wikitized project (for arachnids)

It has been done for both tarantulas and scorpions that I know of. I can't remember the tarantula pages but I had a major hand in the scorpopedia. The scorpopedia will be back soon...once we get...

    Re: H. lividum issue

I "fluffed" the substrate and it's just burrowing around the enclosure. No real updates as it hasn't hung out on the surface where I could get a good shot at it since.

Re: Putting Faces to Names- Bell

Is it your natural color right now? I've grown my hair out, I'm at 4" and it's split blue black/bleached right down the middle.

    Re: Heating question

I had a setup where I put a heat pad under and a heat pad on the side of a 20 long and put my enclosures that fit in there and it kept them right about 80f - it's the same theory as a heat box. right...

    C. sculpturatus "gertschi" molt today

Sad as it may seem, I've only got one of these but it molted from 2i to 3i today and that put a smile on my face. It fell off the corkboard so I had to hold it with a pair of tweezers for it to...

Re: Early instar C. gracilis Communal attempt

What's funnier is seeing one situate itself and take a crap. I saw my next in line for parturition do that recently and it blew my mind, guess I never paid enough attention but I've got her in an...

  20. Re: Giant jumping spiders Batman, it's gonna eat the town!

Nicely done, I'm too lazy to chase codes or figure out those stupid new buttons they keep coming up with (I'm kinda going borderline Ted Kaczynski about the new crap the net makes).
  21. Giant jumping spiders Batman, it's gonna eat the town!

I can't seem to get enough of this video so I though it only right that I share it with all of you. Someone posted it on the ATS board not that long ago. Unfortunately, there's no direct link to show...

Re: Early instar C. gracilis Communal attempt

A second update for the day. Right before I left the house for the sis' kid's b-day thing, I caught 2 more molts happening. After being out for about 3hrs, all is still well and the 4 molted slings...

Well, two molted sometime this morning to third instar. Thus far all is well and there has been no cannibalism in the group. Here's a couple pix, apparently only one came out as photogenic (the lens...

Re: what the heck is it? (cant get a pic btw)

My vote is that it's just some crap. If you confirm mites get some Hypoaspis miles. Mites should never end with a freezing, don't commit an Onan and pull out early.
